2009 Hunting Seasons
December 14, 2009 – Dennis Eacott took advantage of the late archery season to harvest a nice six pointer which makes one gun kill and one bow kill under his belt for 2009.

December 12, 2009 – Mike harvested a management doe with Dennis Eacott behind the camera. It was his first muzzleloader deer but I’m sure not his last.

December 6, 2009 – Our buddy Frank shot another 8 pointer off the farm this year. That makes 5 eights and 2 sixes this year on the farm we manage and hunt. Looks like food plots, passing up small bucks and taking some does over the past few years is working out great. Mike shot over a doe in Suffolk with his bow but will try to redeem himself this coming weekend.

November 29, 2009 – Our Neighbor John dropped a spike with his rifle. He hunts the same deer that move between our property and his. This property is too small and populated to be managed like we do on our farm. He now has meat in the freezer.
November 28, 2009 – Hughie took a spike with his rifle. His first gun buck in a few years due to primarily hunting with his bow.

November 25, 2009 – Dennis Eacott took a nice, thick, dark rack 8 pointer during an early morning hunt.

November 24, 2009 – Hughie took a turkey during a Special Suffolk Turkey Season with his bow. Congrats!

November 21, 2009 – Opening Day of Rifle Season. Mike Rubino took a nice thick 6 pointer during the morning hunt. Joe Rubino Jr. and Joe Rubino Sr. both took 8 pointers during the afternoon hunt at last light. Our good buddy Hughie took a nice doe with his bow as well, 40 yard recovery.

November 11, 2009 – Dennis Eacott, with Mike Rubino filming, saw a shooter 8 pointer that didn’t come in close enough for a shot with his bow. That same 8 was taken on the opening day of rifle season by Joe Rubino.

October 18, 2009 – Mike Rubino arrowed a 6 pointer on film with John Rubino behind the camera capturing everything from the shot to the recovery. Charlie took two does with his bow.

Shed Hunting 2011
March 17th, 2011
Well i have been out shed hunting both down here on Long Island and upstate, NY over the past few weeks and i found 7 antlers total so far. My biggest was a real nice 4 point side which would probalby score about 130. I also found one set from a decent 6 point as well as a nice 5 point side. There is still plenty of time left to get out there and look and i know ill be out there for the next few weekends trying to find some more good ones before the ticks get bad and everything starts turning green again. Hopefully i’ll have some more pics to share from this upcoming weekends shed hunt. Good luck to anybody that will be out there looking as well.

2010 Duck Boat Upgrades
November 30th, 2010
With Duck season reopening on Dec 7th we have been putting some finishing touches on the boat. It was always in great shape but this off-season we went all out. We fixed some of the fibreglass dings, installed a rubber rail around the entire boat to protect it, replaced the rails that hold the grass on for concealment, purchased all new rubber mats for the floors to protect and to keep the noise down. We also replaced all the cleats, got new dock lines, running lights and gave it a new paint job (dark green). Now the last part is to paint the stalks of grass on the side with a lighter color for contrast. It will be completely finished and in the water this weekend. We overhauled the trailer as well, with a new winch strap and new lights. The entire setup looks like a million bucks. I will be sure to post pictures as soon as it’s complete. I still have plenty of deer hunting left in me, but bring on the duck season, maybe then I can finally shoot something, actually many things.

Rubino Films Vacation!!!
November 12th, 2010
We are heading upstate tonight after work for our annual Rubino Films vacation. We all took the week off and will be hunting for 9 day straight. It should be a good week. It’s all I have been thinking about lately. Work has been ridiculously busy so it’s going to be nice to get away and clear my head for a bit. I will try to post daily reports in the forum (www.RubinoFilms.com/forum) as the week progresses. Joe and Dennis already have some nice animals down, now myself and the rest of the crew are going to do our best to join the party. I would love to kill one before the gun hunters get there and start shooting at any deer that moves. We are possibly heading to Chenango County tonight but still aren’t sure. We are waiting for my brother’s friend to let us know if he can make it. I sure hope he can because his place is pure gold when it comes to big bucks.

Southern Zone Opening Weekend
October 19th, 2010
I’m going to call opening weekend a success, even thought we didn’t put one on the ground we had a blast and saw seven different buck in two days of hunting. Saw a few shooters that didn’t present a good shot and a few that just needed another year or two to grow. It was good to get in the woods and log some hours with the new camera. With the wind Saturday we were a little discouraged and didn’t think the deer would be moving but threw on our Scent Blocker suits and we went out anyway. Although the deer we saw were all skittish, they were still on there feet. Joe almost had a shot at a doe but she picked him off before he was able to release an arrow and then he saw a nice seven that just wouldn’t get close enough for a shot. I saw a buck walk through the brush but couldn’t tell what he was exactly. Mid-day we went to my uncle’s farm for a visit as he just had surgery on his leg and will be laid up for a while. John went out back to put out a trail cam and saw two bucks and three does bedded in the back field. Our buddy Dennis tried to put the stalk on them but one of the does spotted him and that was the end of that. It turned out to be a spike and a big four pointer. Than that afternoon we had a shooter come to within 35yards at last light but never stopped walking. John didn’t feel comfortable with the shot so he let him walk without releasing an arrow. Sunday morning was a little slower. We saw a small four pointer come right under the stand but that was about it. We are headed to Long Island this weekend to hunt some private property with our good friend Hughie from xtremebowhunting.proboards.com. There have been some great bucks spotted on his property and he already took a big ten off it, so needles to say we have been looking forward to this hunt for a while.

Checking Stands
September 7th, 2010
Went up to camp this weekend to check some stands and setup a few ground blinds to get ready for the season that will be here before you know it. Always like to check the stands before hand so that when we show up to hunt we know everything is in place and safe.
