I have been out EVERY weekend and a few times after work....... on the Island and upstate. I have NOT found one single shed yet. Its very difficult here, I have even walked around in a few parks where hunting is not allowed and have been for a few years. I have only found ONE shed here in N.Y. while looking for them. I went to Illinois a few years ago and found a bunch in two days........ I think the squirrels and mice grind them up fast around here. I

I know what you mean C.Beck i have also been looking hard for the last two years and have only found one small shed. I usually go out on the island alone so if you want to meet up one day out there it might be better off than going alone.

John- Anytime..... now that its staying light a bit later after work is a good time. I went out and walked six hours yesterday upstate yesterday in the semi fresh snow. I wasnt even hoping to find a shed and really concentrated on scouting a hunting property I got in on last year. I found two spots that blew me away..... that made all of the hiking worth it! I am already looking forward to this coming season!! I will concentrate on sheds again when the snow melts a bit.

I also went out this weekend, brought the dog with me for a few hours shed hunting and he found an old doe skull under the leaves and dirt but that's about it. I went coyote hunting too and while walking in and out of the woods, again looked for sheds with nothing to be found. I'll be up again in two weeks and will be looking again, with the dog again too.
